When Barbadians go to the polls in the next election there are likely to have a new political entity to contest the elections. While the official name of the entity has not yet been released, the new grouping will have a “clearly-articulated, well-defined Judeo-Christian philosophy” which will be “central rather than peripheral to its policies and practices”.
Spokesperson for the entity- who prefers to remain anonymous at this time -explained that the party was conceptualized and positioned away from the two exiting “established” parties (and their offshoots) because Barbadians have shown, by their repeated comments, that they regard the two mainstream parties as being “no different from each other”.
“The recurring use of the meme “BDLP” indicates that Barbadians do not see any difference whatsoever between the BLP and the DLP”, the spokesperson argued.
“Additionally”, continued the spokesperson, “young persons and other individuals of character and integrity who want to give honest, enthusiastic and professional representation and have a flair for government, should not be forced to choose between the two existing parties with the hope that they can make a substantial difference in either. Clearly that is not working”.
While not elaborating, the spokesperson indicated that the right of the electorate to recall representatives and proportional representation would be two of the major points of departure from the philosophical stance of the existing parties.
The party will also take a strong anti-globalist, anti-one-world-government stance”, stated the spokesperson.
The spokesperson revealed that the new entity will soon open its website and take EOIs (expressions of interest) for membership and candidates. Both activities will be handled in a stringent, confidential and professional manner.
