August 23, 2021: The Epoch Times is reporting that the Indian government has issued emergency authorization for the world’s first DNA covid-19 vaccine.
A vaccination is a pharmaceutical agent which when injected into the body, stimulates the immune system to recognize an infection and neutralize it before any adverse consequence can take place if and when the vaccinated individual encounters the infectious agent anytime in the future.
To generate the immune response in the body, a vaccination will either include the infectious agent itself, e.g. a virus or certain components of the infectious agent. In both cases the part of the infectious agent introduced into the body has either been weakened (“attenuated”) or “killed” so that it cannot cause “serious” infection.
The successful polio vaccine uses both approaches A. The IPV (Inactivated Polio Vaccine) uses an inactivated or “killed” virus. It is given by injection. On the other hand, OPV (Oral Polio Vaccine) used an attenuated or weakened poliovirus and is given by mouth (orally).

In contrast, DNA vaccines work by introducing elements of the genetic code of the virus rather than the virus itself. Other types of “gene vaccines” are being developed at Harvard UniversityB.
According to WION, an Indian news agency, ZyCoV-D or Zydus has been approved for emergency use in children 12 years and over. Read more here.
